Application for Remission of Fine

3. Write an application to the principal for remission of fine. (Average & Weak Students)

The Principal,

Government College,

(City) A.B.C.

Subject:               Request for Remission of Fine

Sir,

Most respectfully, I beg leave to state that I am a student of the First Year at your college. I have been fined 500 rupees for being absent from the college. Actually, I had to go back to my village to see my mother, who was ill. I could not send an application for leave. Sir, it is difficult for me to pay this fine because I am an orphan and belong to a poor family. My mother has to work as a maid in different houses to meet the needs of our family. Even then, we have to live hand to mouth. We have to struggle hard to have a square meal.

I humbly request that you remit my fine. I shall be very thankful to you for this act of kindness.

Yours obediently,

         X.Y.Z.

Application for Remission of Fine

Note:

Among the various types of formal applications, “the application for remission of fine” holds special importance for students, both in exams and in real life. It is a common and repeatedly asked question in board and college examinations and can significantly impact a student’s overall score if not written properly. Since such writing tasks are closely evaluated, even minor errors in grammar, punctuation, or tone can lead to a deduction in marks. Learning this application gives students a better understanding of formal language, structured sentence formation, and courteous expression. It also improves their ability to communicate respectfully and convincingly. Instead of depending only on rote memorization, students should write and revise it regularly to develop fluency, accuracy, and neat presentation.

This not only boosts their confidence during exams but also sharpens their overall writing skills. Moreover, the relevance of this application goes beyond the examination hall—it is a useful resource in real academic life when a student genuinely needs financial relief from fines due to late fees or other unavoidable reasons. By practicing this application consistently, students can enhance their writing performance, reduce spelling and grammatical errors, and ensure to handle such tasks with ease and efficiency when required.
